Since a few years, security has become a standing key factor in the worldwide port economy. The seminar on Port Security covers all essential aspects of security of ships, their cargo, the passengers and the port terminals. Topics such as port state and flag state control, the role of customs and police, border surveillance, terminal security, contingency planning and informatisation and safety are developed in close cooperation with the maritime police, customs administration, fire department and the port authorities.
The seminar includes a detailed security survey programme in the ports of Antwerp, Zeebrugge and Ostend.
